[ARC5] T-17

The "make offer" option was available on that auction.  Is it possible that it was sold to a bidder who made an accepted offer?  Would that have shown if that were the case?  I have won auctions at a lowered offer price and I believe the auction listing never showed the accepted offer, just that the item sold.

not really. If the bidder doesn't pay the auction fees are cancelled. A cancelled auction will still be listed as sold and nobody other than seller and buyer knows that it was cancelled.

I am not sure of eBay promotions in the US but in Germany eBay has a sale today: For "private sellers invited by eBay" list an item at EUR 1 starting bid and pay maximum EUR 1 sales fee not the usual 10% even if it sells for $5k.
Similar eBay promotions occured in Germany at least 5 times within the last quarter.
