This is the military (Navy) version of the General Radio 605B signal
generator. I got one of these back in the 1960s (complete with a Navy tag
dated 1939) and used it for about 15 years until I replaced it with a URM-25
(since replaced by an 8640B).
I never had the original power supply for it, so I connected it to a
homebrew regulated p.s.
There were only two "down sides," as I recall.
The bandswitch was made out of Bakelite and very fragile. Mine broke, and I
replaced it with one of the large-diameter, heavy-duty band switches that
Millen as selling in times long past.
I also recall (possibly incorrectly) that the RF output was a very low
impedance, and you had to use a series resistor to match 50 ohms.
It's a great signal generator, rock stable so long as the plate voltage is
regulated and the filament voltage is held constant - fully equal to the
URM-25, some 20 years newer.
I've got a manual for it if anybody wants to contact me off list.
