Subject: [ARC5] OT - about the Collins TCS receivers
www.eBay.com/itm/152429281000
This link points to a Collins TCS-12 receiver.
The outer case is missing, but the rest of the set appears intact (to my
eye).
I would be interested to hear about the weight of this set, with a view
to estimating the cost of freight to Australia.
I could not find the weight in the manual - although it may be there.
I would be interested to hear about the possibility of damage to the set
by shipping (or the likelihood of NO damage).
I would like to hear from any-one who has owned and operated and of the
TCS series.
There are a number of reviews of the TCS on the net, and I have read
these.
I imagine the set will have some problem with images above about 5MHz,
yes?
I imagine the set should have somewhat better stability than most (due
to the use of a separate LO).
I specifically note that a number of reviews state that this is a
particularly stable receiver.
Comments, please!
I presume Collins used the 12A6 as the local oscillator in order to
rationalize the number of tubes in the "spare parts" box?
Thanks to any respondent, in advance.
