Perhaps enough data could be gathered on different makers, etc., to have a fair guess at what ought to have been on some of these sets?

For anyone with a decaying original scale in their radio, there's at least a fair idea of what it ought to have looked like. For anyone with an empty hole, then maybe anything that looks nearly right it better maybe than nothing. If we come up with a simple enough technique, all we may need to have is a digital master file to share so that a print shop make up something like a decal, mask or transparency.

I was imagining something like the old overhead transparency stuff. Print it with black (or white if your printer or print shop can do it) and cut to fit. If needed for stiffness, affix it to a clear plastic sheet or sandwich it between two thinner sheets. Does that sound like it could work??
