Craig,
I suggest you measure the metal chassis holes or rivet locations, and not
rely on measurements of possibly shrunk plastic (?) parts, even though they
may look right. No doubt we could find out just what material was used for
these windows, but I could only guess at this point.
The windows on the BC-221 frequency meter calibration book compartments
are often shrunk beyond usefulness. This would be another purpose for
developing a production process for these windows. In the BC-221, the
window is held in with crimped-over rivets. There may be a metal strip on
the inside to sandwich the plastic against the window frame, but I am not
sure (I can get to one to check easily.) Proper replacement may involve
removing the rivets and replacing them with new, although some sort of glue
to hold a new window in place once it would be placed back over the
original rivets would make removing the rivets un necessary. We'd need to
grind off the peened-over ends of the rivets though.
