[ARC5] [Milsurplus] Carbon mic pops

Apropos of I'm not sure what, I recently "cured" this problem with my
ARC-25 setup. The two ARR-15 receivers were quiet during key down and
key up, no issues whatever. However, the R-23 Q-5er exhibited a keying
transient that would ring your ears. Muting for that receiver (and the
two ARR-15s) was a triple pole relay. The B+ for the R-23 was
controlled, in this case. I shorted the B+ keying and the horrendous
click remained. I brought out the screen voltage, thinking this might
calm things down but no joy, whatever! What I had to do was lift the RF
gain pot from ground as the muting feature. Presto, the click was
gone. Now... that did noting to address the source of the original
click, unless HV switching of the B+ in these radios is an issue?.
Perhaps I've simply masked the effect. Its curious that neither of the
ARR-15 receivers have any issues, at all. Just the R-23. I use a
home-brew supply for the ART-13 and that, I /think/, may be the root
source for the click. That said, an identical supply on the adjacent
ARC-8 setup has no such issues? I will have to hang a scope on the R-23
audio leads and see what, exactly is the issue. But, as they say in the
"islands" "Mon, it be no big ting"........ So... I simply be happy.....
