The underchassis "selector" relay will follow a bug to at least 35 wpm. As for the original setup, the limiting factor seems to be the BC-442 antenna relay. I can get the B plus keying relay in the modulator to follow a bug to about 20 wpm and it may do better.

Yes. They were designed for AM Voice use. CW was possible, but not used much, if at all.
Mike, KK5F, knows far more about this aspect of their use than most of us here do.
