[ARC5] Chassis Cleaning

    I think the main purpose of cadmium plating was as a "secrificial" 
coating  to prevent corrosion. I have never heard that the small amount 
of cadmium released by sanding a chassis is dangerous but a dust mask 
and goggles should be worn even when sanding wood.  Cadmium plating was 
restricted mostly due to the environmental hazard of the metal.  Until 
the fairly recent past it was very common to cadmium plat steel chassis. 
The other "sacrificial" plating found commonly is zinc. Old zinc plated 
stuff often develops a coating of zinc oxide, a white powder. Zinc oxide 
is used as a skin protectant in sunburn lotion and in medications.
