Well there is a procedure in the manual for doing it from scratch, but I
would think that, at the time these sets were in service, experienced
techs would look at the plane, look at the antenna, and say, "That's 8
turns up from the bottom". When you've done it on several planes of
the same type and antenna and gotten the same result each time,
there's little point in going through the process yet again.
Experience counts.
