[ARC5] Dumb Question No. 125678

jeep,

Why not acquire a remote tuning control head from some other ARC rx and re-paint it's dial or make a conversion chart from VHF to BC Band..
I was fortunate enough (or blessed) to acquire a R-22 with a C-57 control head labeled B CAST. But the same head with different dial for LF Band shows up on ePay , C-125 I'm guessing? (I'm not an ARC numerologist).(Mike can fill in here).
It wouldn't be difficult to make a tuning dial disk for these control heads and engrave a 0-100 scale with .1 increments and use as a logging scale for favorite stations or BC band DX logging. An LM frequency meter would be useful here.to measure and record frequency of DX stations. (My plug for the LM-*, an elegant and most useful design of VT technology of the mid-late 1930's). If LM-*, was running in this election it would get my vote! Steadfast, Long Serving, Accurate, No Scandals, the LM will march on!

    Ken,

I'm interested in your comment about the A.R.C. R-10 mand 11 receivers. How difficult is it, really, to romove the front panel plug and then change out the tuning cap? Might be an interesting adventure!

Ah, you purists!

The ARC R-10...

...or the later R-22...

has no dial at all!

Yes, but since the tuning capacitor is identical to those in the BC-453, except
that the dial-mechanism is missing, substituting their original tuning capacitor
with one from a junk BC-453 then adding a dial results in a more "modern"
BC band ARC-5 receiver. ;-)
