By the way, I recall hearing in that in the mid-50's at Tinker AFB, home of Oklahoma City Air Material Area, that if you walked down to the B-29 and B-50 overhaul areas at the south end of Bldg 3001 and asked the right person they would hand you a BC-348 for free.  I presume they were yanking the BC-348's out of the airplanes at that time and installing something else.
