You know I respect your opinions, Mike, and I've
put-forward this theory myself.  I do, however, have
some concerns about it.   First- while many WWII
Navy Tactical frequencies were between 2 and 3 MC,
there were also a great many between 3 and 4.5 MC.
And any Navy aircraft flying within and/or across CONUS
would absolutlely need a 3-4 MC transmitter.
If these scarce late-production ATA transmitters, built
on the ARC-5 chassis, were for replacements, why
do we see only 2.1-3.0 MC examples?  One would think
they would made at least as many 3-4 MC replacements.
Mystery.
