Hey All-
Has anyone (especially cold war era USAF types) run across a small Dzus
rail mounted solid state receiver built by Sparton nomenclature ARR-47?
I have one, in excellent shape, and was wondering where it was used. I is
very well made, modular, with three plug in circuit boards (RF, IF,
det/AVC/audio) 11 transistors, including a push-pull output of perhaps a
watt or so. It has an automobile style slug tuning rack with 4 presets,
built with great precision, and has odometer type frequency display.
It is standard Dzus width, about 2 1/4" tall, and 5" deep. It has no
interface other than 28VDC, lighting, and audio out, with a BNC antenna
input. No BFO or RF gain, so it appears to be AM only, perhaps just for
entertainment. Was this maybe for a VIP aircraft? Certainly no expense was
spared. Also, no R-xxx number, just AN/ARR-47 on the data plate.
Manufactured 11/58. Any info would be appreciated.
