There's a very good reason they did not.

The 8-pin connector on J-31 in the standard remote control adapter panel has, in the overwhelming majority of examples, nothing but phenolic/mica insulation with a hole but without any metal.  In those J-31s, only pins 6 and 7 have metal conductors at those pin locations.  They are wired together to complete the DC power path to the receiver.

If all connections to every J-31 had been capable of mating electrically, then these adapters in un-ham-hacked condition would doubtless be very rare.
