[ARC5] roller incuctior cleaning

So how would be the best way to clean the roller inductor assemble in command sets and other old mil equipment such as BC 375, TCS, etc.   All of my such sets have many dead spots when tuning the roller inductor assembly.  So what do you use to clean the roller, the roller shaft and the inductor coil windings?   Yes, I have tried DeOxit, and other contact cleaners to no avail.  Maybe my procedure was not proper.
