Your radio has had a Ham-mering.
(Thank you to whomever it was from which I stole
 this term.   "Ham-mering."  I like it :-D )
Typical of 95% of hacks;  they get half-way through
their carnage, get bored or get a commercial receiver
and throw the raped radio on the junk pile for one
of us to try and recover.  Oh well more for us.

One of the butcheries done was to pull out tuning
capacitor plates and booger with the padding in order
to "bandspread" the ham band over the whole dial.
Likely someone wanted 160 meters from one end
to the other.   You'll need a new tuning cap or,
since it's already been buggered, you could finish
the job and have a pretty good 160 meter receiver.
