Look at the NEMA 1-15 plug. Lot's of pins have holes in them. What is the purpose of those holes?
Are there dimples in the female receptacles for the holes?
Yes, I know the old joke - the current flows through the holes :-)

It seems to me the current (no pun intended) sockets in England had
a shutter which covered the hot terminals when no plug was inserted. The
grounding prong on the plug pushes this aside. While someone here
claimed far fewer people got electrocuted by 240V and 120V I think that
is due to the safety plugs and sockets.
