Les,

No, Dave’s post was in error (likely his first and last for this year heheh ) but:

talks about the instrument working from 20 to 250 mc and the variable oscillator range being from 20 to 40 mc.  (The thing uses harmonics of the variable oscillator from 40 to 250 mc in the same way the LM and BC-221 frequency meters do.)  The crystal frequency is given as 1000 kc.


The file  TS-173-UR.pdf on BAMA at:

is a schematic only and does not indicate either the frequency range of the oscillator or the range of the thing as a whole, though the crystal frequency is 5 mc.

I think there was a family of frequency meters including the TS-173, -174, and -175.  I don’t know the differences between these different ones.  I have three pictures of the TS-175 but they are too low resolution to read the name plate.
