This sounds to me like a dual problem- HV cap in the
receiver (not the dynamotor) leaks, destroying the armature.
Remove filament voltage from the receiver. Connect an
external B+ power supply. Look at your current drain.
I don't have the diagrams here in front of me. You'll
need to follow the B+ buss out and look for "normal"
resistance loads to ground, if any. Someone here may
have done this in the past and have the info.
Use Ohm's Law to calculate what the current drain should
be without tube filaments lit. If it's much higher than
calculated, you have a shorted bypass or HV cap.
Gassy tubes can do it as well but this would be rare.
