Thanks, but this one is a full-sized octal can, looks like a 6AG7 only
larger in diameter. And the good news is, it works!
Turns out the only problem was not realizing that the DC output of the
supply was connected to a very heavy bleeder resistor that was drawing
130mA. Once I hooked the good old Motorola adjustable DC supply to it,
the thing fired right up and yes, a 400 cycle vibrator is annoying
;-) But the supply will produce 120 volts under that load or 190 with
a more nominal load, so it's a nice solution for running portable tube
type gear and the filters inside the Airpax power supply module seem to
do a good job.
I always get a kick out of DC-DC conversion by purely mechanical means ;-)
