And 99.9% don't.  If it's not somehow important to the plot or a star of
the film, it's merely representative.

Only us radio nerds notice.

Example: when they show a kitchen scene in someone's home, how many of us
recognize or even know if the oven, toaster, or refrigerator are
period-correct or just look old enough to be right? You can bet the old
appliance collectors know and have similar conversations.

What appears foolish is with the availability of equipment and knowledge
out there these days, it seems they could do a much better job overall for
little, if any added expense. To their credit, some films have stepped up
and done a much better job than previous attempts.

I recall watching a Sci-Fi flick years ago with a Hallicrafters R-42
speaker mounted on the wall, upside-down. It certainly looked more menacing
that way.
