[ARC5] Hallicrafters S27C ?

It would be interesting. I have a Navy version of the S-36 (which
needs a new gearbox). It works pretty well but was had at by someone
before I got it and I have not been able to figure out if they modified
the circuit. This was quite a stretch at the time. Acorn tubes were the
newest and latest but much of the circuit made use of rather
conventional construction. However it works. The S-36C and S-37 were an
even longer stretch. I've seen only a couple of S-37s and don't have the
spare cash for one at the moment, but it would be interesting to know
how well it performs. The range it covers became very popular for public
service radio a few years after its construction with much more compact
and probably better performing gear. Hallicrafters tried very hard to
be ahead of the game but never quite got things right.
