[ARC5] ARC-5 on 20 meters

There is a "conversion" for the T-20/BC-457 in the old CQ Command Sets Handbook, using a tripler stage. The variable caps all have a bunch of plates removed -- the one in the VFO to improve bandspread, and the ones in the PA for ease of tuning.
If memory serves me, the tripler tube was a 6AG7.
It worked after a fashion, hmm.
Years ago I did this conversion on a BC-457, Western Electric manufactured and serial number 138 (!!!!!) -- wish I at least still had the transmitter even if it was modified; but would rather have had the good sense of history to leave it alone. I may still have the nomenclature tag someplace....

Subject: [ARC5] ARC-5 on 20 meters
Good Morning,
I get vintage QSL cards as a Christmas present from my daughter's boyfriend. I like to track down the equipment used.
This year' card as a 1958 QSL form LA7JF in Oslo to KODBK in Kansas. The LA station was using a BC-312G as a receiver and an ARC-5 as the transmitter.
The CW QSL took place on 20 meters CW with a power of 50 watts. I assume this is input power.
Does anyone know of any popular mods of the ARC-5 transmitters for 20 meter operation?
I guess you could put a tripler in a T-20 or a doubler stage in a T-21 or T-22. Did they replace the magic eye tube or crystal with the multiplier stage?
How did they modify the output for 20 meters?
HNY
