Often collectables that are N.O.S. are changing hands for 100-150% more than clean original items. Considering that 801 tubes are EXPENSIVE a bid of $600 or so wold have seemed okay IF this was truly N.O.S.

Looking closely at this auction the alarms go off. Just out of packing ( which is missing?!). Hmmm, why is the unit showing signs of a quick sloppy wipe down on a dust embedded wrinkle finish? Why would one dispose the extensive packaging that these units where shipped in? Where are the other two tuning units that would have been shipped, numbers matching the unit? Accompanying manuals?

It is clean, appears to have never been mounted, but N.O.S. just out the box, no. As far as shill bidding to end the auction, one can always end an auction as being no longer available, thus canceling the auction and any bids. One then is avoiding e-Bays nearly 20% commission.
