[ARC5] NC-270 Success

The National "Cosmic Blues" are known for saturation of the power
transformers.  Here's my experience

For a cheap bucking transformer, I recycle dead UPS, the older versions
that were still heavy after battery removal.   The case, the transformer,
the outlets are ready to go.  Just rewire a bit.   For an example, see the
bottom of this page.
