Yeah  there is no real financial reasons to write for a magazine- possible exceptions for big name big circulation rags but even their I have my doubts.
I split a $25 check many years ago with another ham for an article we wrote and submitted to 73  Not complaining  We did not do it for the money

I also subscribed to CQ in order to get Gordon's Surplus columns, and sought out previous issues as well. And I had a little success at writing for some aviation magazines.  Air Classics never paid me for my article they published but I was not perturbed too much, since I wrote as a tribute to a friend, and he was delighted. My interest in writing for the mags decreased markedly when I realized that for a typical aviation magazine they have paid a sum total of maybe $1500 - $2000 for all the articles in it.   Wayne WB5WSV
