[ARC5] BC-454-B listed in THAT place.

Doesn't a "-B" model imply a remanufactured unit? I had a BC-455-B once that was remanufactured for the Royal Canadian Air Force and all the capacitors were replaced with modern molded ones. That receiver picked up McMurdo Station one winter night when I was living on Martha's Vineyard back in the early '70's.

  Hello James (& all),

Yes, I agree (about grimy). Speaking generally, the photos always look BETTER than the real item.

However, the point of interest is that it is BLACK wrinkle, not aluminium, and the name-plate is on top (not on the side).

I don't know anything about these sets, (and in particular whether a set is rare or not) but I thought some-one may find the black wrinkle on a "BC-nnn" receiver interesting. Also, I'm beginning to understand that when some-one pays good money for a set, it's likely to survive.

Seems a bit grimy for the price. It's not NIB!

Just like the guy with the $174 front panel plug in, he has the right to try to get what he can for it.

To that, I say "good luck".
