Hi Todd and the group,
The Tel A and B function allowed two different crewmen to listed
to two different receivers, maybe the pilot listening to the
command channel, while the copilot was copying weather reports.
However, it did not seem to be a universal thing. The only other
receiver set I can think of at this time that provided this function
was the RAX family.
But also, the Tel A and B function did not seem to be utilized in
most of the true AN/ARC-5 installations, even though the racks still
supported it, most of the AN/ARC-5 control boxes did not. The usage
seem to be mainly in the ARA and SCR-273N
I think the only ARC-5 control boxes that provided tel A and B were the
C-42 and C-43/ARC-5, but I have read that usage of these boxes was
not common.
