Bill, Mike, and other Retirees,

The commanding officer of the helicopter squadron I joined in 1967 had actually flown Navy lighter than air ships (dirigibles).  He said that they did not have any clocks, but rather carried a calendar instead.  I *think* he was telling the truth.

In contraindication to Bills kind advice, I bought a pocket watch last summer (at a hamfest, no less).  It’s a lovely 1918 Elgin “B.W. Raymond” genuine railroad grade watch.  I take a few leisurely moments each morning to wind the thing up.  But in truth, nowadays I seldom need the accuracy the thing is capable of, even now just shy of one hundred years after it was made.  Good heavens, Americans could do things right back then!
