Very good! Now I think you're ready for this:
There is, in fact, an audio line connected to the front panel adapter connector for the R-23, R-23A R-24, and R-148/ARC-5 "navigation" receivers. It is a filtered for a low frequency audio signal from the 12A6 cathode, and does not come from the AF transformer secondary.
What is that for?
