I have a Mackay Marine 128-AY receiver which is both AC or DC.

IMHO, there is nothing wrong with AC/DC supplies if done correctly.

National made a version of the NC-88X which was AC/DC. It worked very 
well.

My S-41G's chassis is insulated from the cabinet.
