[ARC5] Oscillator Stability and Old-Time gear

Isn't it true that the cheaper lower quality gear tends to have compression trimmer caps rather than air trimmer caps?

I have converted the LO trimmers on an NC-270 over to air trimmers because of that - that, and the fact that the corrosion on the chassis made the original compression trimmers rather icky (apologies to the less technically astute individuals who have trouble with such scientific terms).

I see that the BC-348 pretty much used air variables as trimmers.  Was this generally true of the higher quality gear?
