[ARC5] Oscillator Stability and Old-Time gear. (Was OT: Hally Instability)

I always love the "broad as a barn" comments about TCS rigs. 

I've just run into a nest of Bad Guys: I don't want to have to worry if I'm in the 500Hz band pass of the Good Guys or not while I'm banging brass and yelling for help. 

I want that receiver on the other end to have a big catchers mitt on the front. I sometimes wonder if that was part of the design.
