That SCR-A*-283 vs. GF-* thing is no big deal. No distinction can be made by visual inspection, as you said.

You still have a GF-* coil of some mystery that is well worth bringing to the list for discussion. For years I've been compiling information about these A.R.C. Model D sets. I have identified 19 different coil sets for GF through GF-12 transmitters (with 21 different nt-47### type numbers because GF CBY-52004 had different type numbers assigned to the separately-installed MO and PA/ANT coils in its two coil sets). None of them cover the 1250 to 1500 kHz frequency range of your coil set...the lowest-frequency regular-production coil set is nt-47135 for 2000 to 2500 kHz useable with GF-2 through GF-12.

The mystery of your GF-* coil's intended application is akin to that of the T-15, -16, -17/ARC-5. I think this connection is closer because it is GF-* coil, rather than a BC-A*-183 coil.

It's also interesting that you have TWO of these unusual coil sets. I'd like to see a description of the markings on both. Are there any CBY-47### coil or CBY-520## transmitter type numbers on them?

So...it does not matter that the coil is for a GF-* after all. It is still an unusual and unexpected component. Thanks for bringing to the list all that you have on it!

I wish there were a lot more list postings of similar nature. Five hundred years from now there will be people skilled enough to figure out how to put the hardware on the air. But information about the development, production, @ and intended use of the hardware is very easily lost forever if it is ignored now.
