Hi,

Once upon a time, when I was in the Navy-Marine Corps MARS program I
sometimes used my Hammarlund HQ-145X (without benefit of xtal) on the
SSB traffic nets above the 4 MC ham band. There was never a problem -
*after* I replaced the 6C4 VFO tube. No microphonics when bumped and no
drift after a few minutes of warmup. I never used a Hallicrafters.

Even the S-Meter worked on CW and SSB. It and the HX-50 SSB rig displayed very little, if any, noticeable drift during operations including SSB traffic nets on 75m.
