[ARC5] ARC-5 as VFO

Not so strange, at all.  I wonder how many command set TX were used up by both Gonset (GSB-100) and by Central Electronics, both using them as VFOs.

I did the same thing in my foolish youth... My first commercial ham rig (I initially got on the air  with the Command Set transmitters) was a Heathkit DX-40. I made a chassis on which I built a regulated power supply for the BC-457 VFO and a differential keying circuit (sequencing the timing between the VFO and the PA keying for clean signal) right out of the ARRL Handbook, with semi-break-in receiver muting and antenna relay. The VFO was stable after a warm-up period. I still have the photo of that station; the  Geloso G4/214 receiver was also my first commercial receiver after the Command receivers.
