The really "odd duck" is this array is the -AF variant.
The -AD and -AE of 1934 incorporated many
improvements over the earlier models.
But then along comes the -AF in 1935, and it is
wire-for-wire and nut-for-bolt identical to the
less capable first sets, except that the -AF transmitter
coil mount is built to exclude -AD and -AE coils.
Why would someone order a run built the that standard?
Perhaps an "export model?" The earlier sets might
have gone to export rather than be scrapped and
the end-users might have asked for more.
Can't be a screw-up in the procurement-
someone grabbed out-dated prints-
because they incorporated the coil exclusion.
Who knows? Unless one of the three people
in the universe who care "hits the lottery" and can
spend a few months in the archives, we'll never know.
