In USN carrier aircraft (even single-engine) that had a gunner/radio operator position, a liaison-type transmitter installation is almost a certainty. Before WWII and early into it, the transmitter would have likely been a GP-6 or -7 with a liaison-type RU-* receiver. Later, the ATC/ATC-1/T-47/ART-13 fill that roll with some receiver concoction like the ARB and/or R-26 and/or R-27/ARC-5 with or without the C-131/AR six-channel remote controller. (Until the AN/ARR-15 arrived the USN had nothing that was well-matched to the capability of the AN/ART-13.)
