I just went back and looked at the pile a little more closely: I was wrong about
the quantities, etc.
There are 9 transmitters, and only 1 of those is badly hacked. From the
front-panels, most of the others looked hardly hacked at all, although I see at
least two which have the added phone plugs for a key at the lower left front.
4 of the transmitters are black-wrinkle, two of which still have the blue plate
at the lower left, and 4 are bare aluminum.
I can't tell for sure what the hacked one was, although it may be an
aluminum one. It has had the front panel completely replaced with added
controls.
There are 8 receivers, and 1 hulk which is missing most of its parts including
the dial.
2 of the receivers are the later Type 12 receivers, one of which has been
modified by having the tuning capacitor replaced with one with a dial,
possibly from that hulk I mentioned above.
The other Type 12 looks like it was used for parts, but one can't really tell.
There are two antenna relay units, both black wrinkle, but one has most of
the paint flaked off it and is down to bare aluminum.
There is also a rack. The rack may possibly be for the Type 12. It doesn't
look quite right for either a single-transmitter or single-receiver ARC-5 rack. It
has something sitting on it that I don't recognize.
Anyway, if we do arrange a group buy, I'd be interested any of the hacked
receivers that anyone else didn't want, and one or two of the transmitters,
preferably the hacked jobs.
Getting the stuff here might be an issue though.
By the way, the stuff is owned by Dennis Brady W5FRS who is a member of
at least one forum that I am on. He is a good fellow.
