DennisNeither my wife nor i have any stomach for that kind of stuff.  We do what we have to to keep her in the game.I suspect political writing is a different kind of creature.  The stuff the political says and writes at its worst- I think- more closely connected to reality than the academic dribble.  A blue collar working man with a 6th grade education is far less likely to accept crap than the University PhD crowd.

I have a lot of experience in this.  My wife is from the middle east and has very good command of English but she asks me to edit her writing.   I edited her PhD dissertation and almost cost her her degree because it made clear definitive statements and then supported those statements.  one of her committee members condemned her for "writing like and engineer"  which I think is short hand for writing with clarity and organization,i.e. violating accepted academic standards.

I've also edited her academic research publications and administrative stuff.  I still have doubts whether i am helping or hurting her.  Communications clarity is very much a secondary - or tertiary or quadnary- or pentinary------ consideration in academic writing even administrative type communications.

By the way I was lucky and was standing on the Key bridge   last friday with my son watching the 70th VE day fly over in Washington DC and was of course thinking about WW2 radio equipment as the planes flew overhead.

That is pretty funny Mike. I was wondering how you came up with all that
crazy terminology, but, looks like it is also in the provided link. I assume
someone generated that as a joke, HI. Kind of like some of the humor that

It is closely related to the turboencabulator - see
