A few years back I realigned the 2.215 MHZ 1st IF of a National NC-155 to 11 KHZ different. The reason was similar to yours. The 2nd LO coil had broken and I wanted to replace it with a crystal controlled 2nd LO using the circuit employed in the NC-270. The closest crystal I could get to the original 2nd LO was 11 KHZ higher. Actually, I bought two for 99 cents each on ebay, one 9 KHZ different and one 11 KHZ different. The 9 khz one died pretty quick so I switched to the 11 KHZ one.

Alignment of the receiver was pretty straightforward despite the IF change, although I did align the first LO by using a receiver rather than a freq counter to make sure it was on frequency before doing the regular alignment.
