I finally got the transmitters put together and I was able to do a preliminary test. Much to my surprise, there was no whoop or chirp on the first try! It's a home brew power suppy using the original "hot keying"  configuration  used in the original design and recommended by Dave Stinson. The D401 dynamotor only puts out 440V, so the screen is around 220V.All of the original select system relays were converted to 12v. The under chassis 28 volt relay was replaced with a 14 volt ARC relay I salvaged from an ARC 12. The antenna select relay coils were put in parallel to work on 12v.So, they are A/B rack selectable as designed.
One might think that the oscillator would take a few milliseconds to settle, but it has a rock solid tone in the receiver.
The old time Hams would had been better off NOT to have modified an apparently great ( albeit strange) design. This was part of my experiment, to test the ORIGINAL circuit functionality and it passed with flying colors!!!
