[ARC5] RBA-1 - Field Change #3.

Good afternoon all,

Big honkin' Navy radios can be quite addicting...

Over the weekend, I put in a bid on the e-place for an RBA-1 which I 
ended up winning.  This particular RBA-1 has been on/off the e-place 
multiple times for at least six months and I finally decided over the 
weekend that it really needed to come live with me to keep the RBA-5 and 
RBL-3 company.

It isn't in real great shape - missing the case, missing the bottom 
cover, has corrosion, has at least one modification...but I often find 
that defects like this add to my enjoyment.  If it could only talk...

This particular RBA-1 has a tag that says "Modified by Field Change #3 
Under Contract" with a contract number I can't quite make out in the photo.

The "Reception: CW / MOD" toggle switch has been replaced with a three 
position rotary switch that has CW, MCW, and what seems to be a CW OL 
position.  The Output Limiter toggle switch has been replaced by a 
two-position rotary switch labeled "BAND EXT, ON / OFF."

Review of the under-chassis photos shows the addition of several ceramic 
trimmer capacitors of purpose I don't yet understand.

I surmise that the additional CW OL position is for CW reception with 
the Output Limiter on.  Makes sense.  I don't understand what the BAND 
EXT switch is for.  Band Extension, maybe?

Any information on Field Change #3 to the RBA receiver would be greatly 
appreciated!
