Abso-freaking-lootely. If your dynamotor is NOT connected DIRECTLY to the 
battery through at least a #10 stranded wire, you WILL lose voltage via an IR 
drop.

#10 stranded wire is good for 30 amps with minimum drop in conduit.

Personally, if that were my rig, I'd be using something like 3-ought welding 
cable.
