Les:
If you remove the cover from tuning capacitor C4,
there are five "trimmer" caps. Four of them are mounted
at the ends of the stators.
The "trimmers" closest to the front and normally hidden
under the tuning cap cover are "bandset" and the ones
near the rear are "bandspread" for that tuning cap.
On the end of the Mixer and Osc stators,
one of these is a "set" and the other is a "trim,"
much like a bandset and bandspread.
The adjustment screws on these "bandset" caps have
an indexing mark- a right-angle strike through the slot.
Makes it look a bit like a sword.

If you face the rig toward you, the bandset cap adjustments
are the closest to you atop the tuning cap.
If these are not set correctly, you cannot align the rig.
Not only are these often "fiddled," but they are
yet another place where oxidation often causes trouble.

Spin the two "bandset" caps to break any oxidation.
Set the center one (C4F, Mixer) with the "sword hilt"
at 12 O'Clock. Set the one to the right (C4G, Osc)
with the "sword hilt" at at 3 O'Clock.
Replace the cover and try alignment according to the
manual again.
