Hello Ken,

You may have different control boxes and Rxs from mine. In my control 
boxes - BC-450, BC-473, for example - the gain pots are a repeat of the 50 k 
RF gain pot found in the Rx front panel plug-in control boxes, and connect 
to exactly the same point in the Rx circuit. They do not control AF gain. In 
all my Command Rxs, there is no AF gain control. The beauty of this 
arrangement is that there will be only DC on control lines - no AF - that 
will not pick up extraneous noise.
