[ARC5] BC-453 Current Draw

Hi Phillip,

Do you have an example of any of the command receivers? Some of them
that are listed on eBay seem a little high priced but sometimes if you
express a desire for one you can shake one out of the bushes on this
list often at more modest prices. Those will be receivers that have
already been modified. The guys who want radios that are all original
and already have those original radios will more easily part with the
"hacked" ones. They will probably need cleaning, some new caps, and some
new resistors but are useable. You could run your own voltage/current
measurements. I bought my 40 meter receiver from a list member already
recapped and ready to rock n roll. The 80 meter radio came from another
list member and cleaned up nicely. That one is wired for 12 volts on the
heaters but the B+ is still the same.

Meanwhile I have an 80 meter and a 40 meter command receiver that I can
check. With the same tube lineup and similar circuitry I would be
surprised if they are very much different. It will be a couple of days
at least and probably into the weekend before I can do that. In
addition, I can check the current draw at 135 and 180 volts (twenty
9-volt batteries) too, and there is no reason why I can't check them at
24 or 27 volts B+. 12 volts B+? Gosh - I even have a 6 volt lead-acid
battery. I wonder...
