[ARC5] The ARC 5 repackaged - heresy or hot rod tinkering?

Mike,

I am designing a BC-453 repackaged receiver with front end converter to be rack mounted and am substituting all miniature tube equivalents for the octal tubes. I have a junker receiver with many missing components but it does have the tuning capacitor, IFs, BFO, etc. I purchased a nice rack mount cabinet with built in speaker from Surplus Sales of Nebraska that it will be constructed into.

This project is temporarily on hold at the moment while I complete restoration of one of my lightly modified BC-453 receivers, it's power supply, and the homebrew front end converter for it.

I will keep the forum posted once I start building the ARC-5 repackaged project. Ken Gordon recommended that I publish the project once completed in Electric Radio Magazine, which I will.
