[ARC5] All Good Things...

Couple of things about Facebook. I 61 years young, and have been a Facebook
member since 2009. I worked with youth for years, and that is their media of
choice.

I have a DoD clearance. Facebook has never been an issue relative to that.

It is not a good media for a forum. It is for social networking. It can
effectively be used to attract younger people to become interested in
something such as the ARC5 forum.

I am a board member of the Mid-Atlantic Antique Radio Club (MAARC), which
meets in the Maryland and Virginia region. I recently put together a
Facebook page for the club. It can be accessed at the following link:

https://www.facebook.com/MAARCDavidsonville/

As you can see, it announces the next meetings, posts things such as photos,
etc., and can lead folks to the MAARC website (in the Facebook 'About' box:
MAARC.ORG <http://www.maarc.org/> ).

The Facebook page has been set up to be secure. Only I and a fellow Board
Member can access the site and edit it. It does not permit the general
public to post anything to the site.

Although Facebook is different than an email based forum, and is not a good
substitute for it, it is a useful tool, one our younger generation uses (or
abuses by posting everything they do), and can be effective in getting the
word out to them about the existence of the ARC5 forum.

Bill,

I'm not expert enough at FB to host a test.

It needs to be someone who uses FB much more than I do and understands how
to run such a Forum using that media.

I only use FB to keep in touch with relatives and friends. However, I have
joined the Heathkit FB page (but so far have not participated in any
discussions nor do I frequent there on a daily basis).

What about the Antique Radio Forum, AMfone Forum, or QRZ Forum, they allow
photos and schematics to be posted?

Boat-anchors/Toob radios in particular.
