[ARC5] ARC-5's in the air: a Monitoring Times article

ARC-5 folks,

I got this link on the QRP-L list and read one issue of Monitoring Times for Nov-Dec 1983. The article on page 14, "Tales of the China Clipper" talks about using the ARC-5 transmitter in CW mode to get the message about weather across:

The story’s hero puts a spare ARC-5 transmitter in place after a lightening strike takes out the main transmitter, and uses it  “… on CW, as the ARC-5 modulator never worked well to begin with.”  The drama takes place in 1943, “just outside the reach of the Japanese in the South Pacific”.

It’s a good story.  I recommend it.
